The Hope Centre, a Meeting Place where Christian Hope is the anchor, and also the inspiration to serve others

More About Us

Sunningdale Baptist Church is an evangelical family church that has been worshipping in the village for over 187 years. We’re a friendly faith community, drawing our congregation from Sunningdale, Sunninghill, Ascot, Chobham, Bracknell, and occasionally from the nearby university (a branch of Imperial College London).

The congregation represents different nations united by the Holy Spirit into one body and in our love for the Lord Jesus Christ, and through our desire to “Seek first the kingdom of God”. We desire to be faithful to God our Father in our daily lives, and to be diligent in helping others also discover Jesus Christ as Lord, Saviour and Friend.

The Hope Centre is devoted to God as a Place of Prayer, of Welcome & friendship, of Teaching, and as a place where  people are helped to experience Restoration of God’s order and purpose for their lives. It is situated in the High Street in the old village of Sunningdale, and includes the 1828 Baptist Chapel, a kitchen, washrooms, and a number of meeting rooms. The Hope Centre building complex has recently been refurbished and extended in preparation for the next season of God’s unfolding plan.

Apart from the regular 10:30AM Sunday Worship Service (incl. refreshments), the Baptist church community is involved in a wide range of activities including Prayer (for our community and nation, for the persecuted church, for Israel and for the nations), The Kitchen (providing meals and friendship to all who come), Toddler Group, Quilting Group, afternoon worship at Lynwood Retirement Home, Bible studies, and a number of social events and Community Projects (as the need arises).

We believe the church is not a building, but the family of God’s people who have put their trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. You will find a friendly welcome among us, whatever your background and exposure to Christianity in the past. We are all on a journey and seek to support each other as we travel.

We also believe that Christian leadership is plural, and there are currently four men who lead amidst the family here (see Contacts).

We also believe there is only one church in each geographical area and seek to support and encourage other Christians, where-ever they happen to live or whichever ‘Church’ they regularly attend. We also believe that we are here for the benefit of others, and seek to serve the community of Sunningdale, Sunninghill, Ascot and Chobham, where the congregation mainly lives. We aspire to be a faith community that caters for all ages, and to encourage everyone to be true to who they are in God, and to be engaged in what He has prepared them for.

If you are new to the area and are looking to be connected to a Christian community that is family focused and serious about growing in their relationship with God, or you are just interested to know more about Christianity, do contact us or just come and join us on a Sunday. You will find that the Worship Services are very relaxed and informal, and the teaching from the Scriptures practical and relevant.
